2/21/2005 Sweet & Sour Spareribs by Annie Lee (Chris's Grandmother) 2 lb spareribs, cut into bite size pieces 1 t cornstarch 1 t gin 1 t salt (we never used salt because of the soyu) 4 t soy sauce Marinate to coat. Let stand for 10 minutes. Sauce: 1/2 c sugar 1/2 c vinegar 1 piece ginger (flatten that with a knife for more flavor) Brown ribs in oil; drain oil and pour sweet sauce in pan. Bring to boil; add ribs. Bring to boil again; simmer 45 min. to 1 hr. or when tender. Add chunks of pineapple. I tried to clarify from the original recipe. As I remember, it didn't take that long to cook. Also, the amounts of the ingredients are probably made up from Mom's original; she never measured anything!
